What can you do if DHEA is too high?

Question from Gwen: Before I test my hormones I have a question: If DHEA is low I can take extra, but what if it is too high? What can I do about that?

Answer: Healthy hormone levels are important for quality of life in many areas. Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is one of the most important hormones in the body because it regulates the production of androgens and estrogens. To lower your DHEA levels you need to eat healthy, exercise a lot and get enough sleep. This blood test is also used to rule out serious problems with your adrenal glands, such as Addison's disease.
It is important is to lower your DHEA levels because high levels can cause aggression and irregular blood pressure, among other things.

Hi Janina, We cannot make any statements about studies that have not been done at our place. Measurement methods, equipment and reagents have their own reference values and can therefore differ, also there is a difference between DHEA and DHEA-s

Too high cortisol non stop is a life-threatening situation which is why DHEA is so important, it slows it down. And too low cortisol e.g. Addison can also be fatal.

Read a lot about hormones and certainly cortisol and DHEA. I have never come across anything or read anyone's story , where it says that even one person had too high a DHEA level . If you take a lot of DHEA of course it is possible , but at a natural state without supplements it is impossible. If someone is taking too much DHEA it is of course possible, they just need to stop for a while and then continue with a lower dose. But normally a sky-high DHEA level, even with supplements is almost impossible, it can start to accumulate in the liver or another organ, but the blood will then indicate at most 12. So it is also pointless to take more than recommended, it will not get into the blood. I think everyone has a low DHEA level now. The stresses with corona increase the cortisol, and DHEA lowers it, that is the automatic "brake". In the long run DHEA gets depleted. And then you are screwed. I know how it feels, during my numerous operations my DHEA had dropped to a distressing value. In addition, the thyroid gland was suddenly full of cysts on the left side. Half of them have been removed, the butterfly shape of the thyroid is now just a wing so to speak. ALL hormone forming organs work together. Get it tested before you snap ! A good internist will know how to do that. But what a high or low DHEA concerns, the older the less DHEA, and with stress thus earlier Adrenal exhaustion, by too much stress (and that is now going on in the world) at a younger age, the DHEA supply can already be used up. In the U.S. DHEA is called the life hormone, and you can feel it! There you can buy it almost in every drugstore or other store.

You have what they call AGS , in fact I have this too. Let me guess your cortisol is low. This is because of a genetic flaw. You should take a small dose of cortisol every day. Then slowly your DHEA levels will drop. And all kinds of ailments will disappear.

This is the first time someone has the same thing: DHEA too high, cortisol too low. Thanks for sharing this response! Very helpful for me.

I'm curious what I can do, considering my DHEA value came out at 22.67. I exercise daily and sleep 7 to 9 hours a night?
