What's the difference between doing a test at your place or at a prick station/home health lab?

Question from Freek: What's the difference between doing a test at your place or at a prick station or GP lab?

Answer: Your general practitioner will only be allowed to request a blood test if there is a medical necessity/reason for this. In that case, the blood test will also be deducted from your deductible and you will have to pay for it yourself. You will therefore pay the first € 385 (lowest deductible) yourself. Only after that does your health insurer pay the costs. Because it is not a medical necessity but an individual choice, we do charge 21% V.A.T. on the tests.

If you have the blood test requested through another doctor, the results will go to your primary care physician, not you.
